The last year of our lives have been incredibly busy! We moved to Mobile, began a new ministry, worked on another master’s degree, sold a house, bought a house, and both of our kids got married less than a year apart. Goodness, breathe, breathe…
With all of the things going on, one of the things I haven’t done much of is any writing of my own. It’s not for lack of desire to be sure, but rather a lack of free time. I am thinking/hoping that we’re entering a season of less. What I mean is simply less activity, less busy, just a little less of everything. We’d love to just enjoy a slower pace with a bit of margin where we can decorate our new home in Mobile, explore some of the local attractions a bit more, and having more people over for dinner.
Substack
Something I’ve been thinking about is my website. It doesn’t take a lot of time or effort to maintain but there is an expense for hosting. After watching many people I know (and deeply respect) make the switch themselves, I decided it was time to investigate for myself. I am certain the reasons others have made the switch to Substack are as varied as the people themselves. My reasons for making the switch to Substack are not complicated. The Substack platform better meets my modest needs and does not have the cost associated with it that the website does. For me, it was really that simple.
With the change, I will be leaving my current site (https://drchrissanchez.com/) live for a while since the hosting service renewed recently. I am also planning to import that content into Substack. They make doing so rather easy! I’m also going to try and post more regularly (I know, I’ve said that recently) but I am. I already have a few things in the hopper and more churning. Lord willing, this new site will be motivation to keep up with that and perhaps pick up a bit more. I will retain the domain since I’ll never knows if the need to use it will arise.
I did a quick check and since migrating to this site, I’ve had well over half a million visitors from around the world (over 100 countries). Assuming those are actually real people, that blows my mind! I do know there are some who have followed my site for years now and for that I am grateful. I hope you’ll continue to do so over at Substack. Maybe we’ll build a little community there. Who knows, maybe eventually even a podcast one day. The url is https://drchrissanchez.substack.com and I hope to see you there. Oh…when you visit, subscribe!
