What a difference a year can make! This time last year we were making our plans to sell our home in Hahira and to purchase a home in the Atlanta area. We settled in Sharpsburg and thanked God for the new ministry He called us to. I’ve said this before, but it bears repeating: not many ministers get to serve a healthy, thriving, growing church and go to another equally healthy, thriving, growing church. In God’s providence, that is exactly how we were blessed. We are so grateful for the favor of God on the Sanchez family!
A few days ago I shared across my social media accounts that I have concluded my role as Executive Pastor at Flat Creek Baptist Church. It was not an easy decision, but one we believe aligns with God’s will for our lives and the church.
We are so grateful for the time spent and the connections we made with the saints at Flat Creek! We part ways as friends and with a shared commitment to the Great Commission work God has called us to. I’m eagerly looking forward to seeing how God will guide and bless Flat Creek in the future! And let me tell you, God is using this nearly 200-year-old church to make an impact in Fayetteville, the surrounding areas, the State of Georgia, and beyond. Godly people with godly leadership focused on the will of God for their congregation have a way of doing that!
So the question we’re getting asked most often is simply what’s next? It’s a great question. The honest answer is we’re waiting on the Lord’s direction. In the meantime, I remain busy, much more so than you might think! God blessed me with an opportunity to serve the Fairburn Baptist Association on the Strategic Foresight Team and I continue to enthusiastically support the work of Frontline Policy Council, most recently meeting with and praying for Georgia state legislators on the opening day of the new legislative session with members of their Church Ambassadors Network.
So many friends in ministry have reached out (literally from across the country) offering prayers and even expressing a willingness to share my resume (you know who you are…thank you!). It means the world to me that so many are expressing their support in ways great and small. We truly love our Southern Baptist family and I cannot imagine ministry anywhere else. You’re amazing! As our next steps come more clearly into focus, we will share as we’re able. Melisa and I will have more to share in the weeks ahead. Please know we are so grateful for your love and your friendship!
Praying for you and your family Christ as the Lord orders and directs you in your next steps.
Grateful for your prayers Ric! God is already working during this time of transition. — Chris
